Dress Your Shape: Petite

Well ladies we are coming to a close with our "dress your shape" segment. The last and final figure in my segment is petite. I chose Eva Longoria because she is one petite woman that stands out. She is only 5'3" and can make herself seem super tall. Even in the picture above, her legs look miles long. The key to dressing a petite frame is to lengthen your figure and highlight your assets.

WEAR:
1. Streamlined clothing such as fitted blazers and skinny jeans
2. Monochromatic outfits, even if they match your skin tone (This will create an eye trick and elongate the body)
3. Heels (This will lengthen the legs and create a look of a longer frame)

TRY:
1. Smartly placed detailing that will give the illusion of a longer torso
2. Empire waist to help lengthen the frame
3. BELTS, BELTS, AND MORE BELTS

AVOID:
1. Dresses that are too long
2. Blazers that are over sized and not fitted to your frame
3. Cropped pants that hit mid-calf (This will cut your legs in the wrong place and create the illusion of an even shorter you)

***Do not be afraid of patterns and detailing. When worn correctly, they can trick the eye and create the illusion of an elongated body. Flats are okay (no one wants to wear heels every where they go). Dress them up with a cute skirt or dress that hits just above the knee in a monochromatic color. This will create the illusion of a taller you without you having to put on heels. ***
