Rapper's Delight......THE WEEKEND!

Recently I was introduced to the musical sounds of The Weekend. Born into this world as Abel Tesfaye, The Weekend is a well rounded rapper and producer. Though he was virtually unknown to a large part of the world's population until 2011, he dropped three mixtapes that not only received tremendous love from music heads around the world, but were critically acclaimed. I wanted to spotlight this hotter than ever rapper because he embodies what Keep Me Trendy really loves. We love the unknown stars and the rising heroes in music, art, and fashion. Check out this great musician and fall in love with his music.

2013 BET Awards: Who's Who and What They Wore

As many of you know the 2013 BET Awards made their debut on June 30, 2013. This was a big night for many African American musicians that wanted to showcase their talents be applauded for their successes. This was set to be one of the greatest nights in the history of the BET Awards. Many stars such as Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union, Justin Timberlake, Charlie Wilson, R. Kelly, and the likes of Alicia Keys. This night turned all that was expected and then some. One show stopper was R. Kelly. He gave a performance that rocked the stage and the audience. Charlie Wilson and Justin Timberlake ripped the stage with a love song and a duet that was shivering to the lovers soul. This was an awesome and wonderful night. Ciara showed why she is the princess of the south and Nicki Minaj showed why she deserves to be in the music business. Now to the fashion......these stars and many rocked the red carpet with unbelievable fashion and style. I can not say that all turned out in their best attire, but many gave us something to view. EMELI SANDE

On my search for new music to bring to you all, I found Emeli Sande. I have to say that I fell in love with the music of this great artist and what she brings to the radio world. Emeli Sande is an English born Scottish recording artist that belts out beautiful ballads to the background of get out of your seat beats. She makes you want to rejoice and dance all at the same time. I also fell in love with her style. She is truly a fashion maven, with her gold and sandy blond hair. Emeli chooses styles that bring out her personality and fun. Check out her album "Next To Me" and while your here on the blog her featured video.

Rittz and Tech N9ne

Recently I was introduced to the musical talents of Rittz. Rittz is a multi-platinum underground artist that was found by another great rapper.....Tech N9ne. If any of you are familiar with rap music then you may know about Tech N9ne and his one of a kind style of rapping. Tech N9ne came out on the scene with a great but rare form of "psychotic" type rap music. He parlayed that music into his own record label known as Strange Music. Now Tech N9ne has brought his protege to the scene of underground rap....Rittz! This lyrical genius hails from Gwinnette County Georgia by way of Pennsylvania. Growing up in a musical family had great influence on this rapper known as "White Jesus" by many of his friends. Once he moved to the Northside of Georgia in this under the radar county he had the chance to experience the world of rap. The effect that it had on him and his style would be one that would be his claim to fame. Check out this rapper with his boss (Tech N9ne) on their hit song "Bloody Murda" and with the talented Yelawolf on the hit "Box Chevy."

I could not have closed the evening out without featuring my guy and a total hearthrob......BRUNO MARS! 
This young man is full of talent and soul. He is topping the charts with his great love songs and music that makes you want to get up and dance. He came to this planet as Peter Gene Hernandez....but he comes to the stage as Bruno Mars. Bruno is the crooner, lover, music maker that will make your knees weak and your heart melt. Next month he gives you the keys to his paradise with not only an interview for GQ's April issue (due on stands 3/23), but he will also grace the cover. WILL.I.AM is not only a great singer, he is a songwriter, artist, dj, voice actor, philanthropist, producer, entrepreneur, and all around genius.  I came across this artist from Paris in my search for great graffiti artwork. Noe Two is Paris born and raised. Noe Two has become well known for his use of colors and images. This street artist is like none other. I am honored to have had the pleasure to see his artwork and dive into the world of Noe Two. Featured here are two of the paintings that caught my eye. SPOTLIGHT ALERT.......CAISE AND JOEY BADA$$

 Caise is the newest member of TPG/TRU EMPIRE, a hot underground label ran by ILLIE216. Caise is a soulful artist who wants to bring back the soul and lyric art form to rap. Not only is Caise a young lyrical genius, he is also a "fashion head." Caise is not only working on his music career, but he is planning on taking the fashion and art world by massive storm. He is Cleveland born but Fashion raised. He is the true definition of a "fashionmista" in the NIKKINICOLE world of fashion. I had the pleasure of seeing some of his style and hearing his work. Joey has been named as one of the creative directors of Ecko Clothing Line at the age of 18. Joey has the ability to take what the world sees and freak it to his style. This makes Joey the triple threat that the world needs. He is fashion! He is music! He is art! Follow this talent as he prepares to release his debut studio album this year. 

Solange Knoweles

Solange is a great artist that has truly come into her own in fashion, music, and life. She is no longer just known as Beyonce's little sister that sang back up for the group and did a few movies. Solange is a true and bonafide star. She is a style icon and music innovator. If you know anything about music and fashion, then you know all about this star. Check her out and listen to the smooth sounds that she creates. Check out her never ending surprises in wardrobe and hairstyles. She shed the look that others thought she should have and created the Solange that she felt she should be. 

Future

Rebel Soul Entertainment has introduced to a new and talented young artist.....Future! Future is a Haitian born rapper who grew up in Atlanta and turned his everyday life into some of the greatest 16 bars that the rap community has ever heard. Future was signed by Epic Records and has teamed up with the likes of such talents as Lil Wayne and many others. Check out this artist who is not just a good rapper, but a fashion star.

Going with the flow of our new collab.....we have today's featured artist: A$AP ROCKY! He is not only an up and coming rapper and musical influence, he is a music director, writer, innovator. Check out this new talent.

Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui

There could not have been a better picture to start of our daily art exhibit. This is a great work of art by El Anatsui. This piece of artwork is one of many that will be in an exhibit showing from February 8th to August 4th 2013. The exhibit is the first creation of Ghana born artist.
